RULES AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN  THE 2008 TDSF SALSA WORLDCUP CONTEST

1-     The 2008 TDSF Salsa Worldcup is an international contest open to all the salsa dance contestants.

2-     It is only possible to participate in the contest as couples and the couple has to be a male and a female.

3.     The contest is open to all Salsa styles and categories.

 

4.     The cost for participation in the contest is Euro 35 per couple.

5.     The minimum age for participation in the contest is 16 and those born after 1992 may not participate.

6.     In the eliminations the contestants shall break up into small groups and dance for 1.30 minutes with the music determined by the organization committee and then split into smaller groups and demonstrate their dance for another 1.45 minutes.  After this they will dance together for another 1.30 minutes and complete this stage.  

The tempo of the music to be played at the elimination shall be 48-54 bar/min. (192-216 beats per minute).  

7.     The 6 final contestants at the end of the elimination shall dance to the  music of their own choice and in the choreography of their selection.  

8.     100% of the music selected by the finalist contestants must be Salsa or Mambo. A maximum of 3 different songs may be mixed in the choreography prepared.   Use of effect, music and dance other than salsa is forbidden. The music used in the finals should be a maximum of 2.15'.  Points will be deducted from the contestants who do not comply with this rule.  

9.     All the contestants participating in the eliminations are allowed to use Low Lifts, Drops and Tricks.  Couples using moves other than Low Lifts, Drop and Tricks defined in this article or moves that endanger the safety of the other contestants shall be disqualified.  

10.   Use of shine shall be allowed and the total period to elapse without holding each other may not exceed 25%.

11. The finalists in demonstrating their own choreography with the music of their own choice shall be allowed to perform only 2 acrobatic moves which shall not exceed 8 beats.

12.   The finalists shall choose their own music and shall submit the CD to the DJ in good quality recording.  They shall check the CD together with the DJ.  Music that is not in keeping sports ethics, or that is religious or political shall not be selected.  Otherwise, the contestants shall be disqualified.  

13. If the dance begins with O1 it shall be continued with O1 throughout the music, if the dance begins with On2 then it shall be continued with On2 throughout the music.  

14. The costumes of the contestants in females must cover the chest. High cut underwear and tanga are not allowed.  All colors, other than the color skin, may be used.  Erotic costumes shall not be allowed.  

15. There shall be a total of 10 jury members in the contest with one of them as the head referee.

16. The contest shall be evaluated in the following manner:  

-         40% Timing and Rhythm, 10% technique, 10% difficulty of the dance, 10% compatibility of the partners, direction and taking directions.

-         10% originality and flow in the figures, 10% professionalism in the  implementation and show value,

-         10% Appearance, Charisma and Dynamism
